Tutorial: Baby Mobile
For this weeks challenge, I decided to take a leap not a hop! (haha!, everyone's a comedian at some point.)
I made this baby mobile for one of my besties! She's expecting any moment now and I can't wait! It's her second child, but first boy! I went with the blue hues, and used the ocean theme.
Materials:
-Ribbons of your choice
-Glue
-Crochet Hoop(any size to your liking)
-Felt cutouts, shapes, animals, flowers, etc.
-Buttons
-Shower Ring
-Scissors
-Patience
Step 1: Take your crochet hoop
Take the part of the crochet hoop with the metal part and separate it from the second hoop. We are using the second hoop without the metal on it
Step 2: Get a ruler or your measuring stick of choice, your scissors and ribbons. We are going to cut our ribbons. It looks more uniformed if they are all similar in length, but if you want to make them all different lengths it is up to you.
Depending on the size of your hoop, will determine how many ribbons you will need to cut.
Step 3: Choose your cutouts
Take a ribbon and apply some glue to the part of the ribbon that you want to place a cutout
Now add your cutout
Continue to add your cutouts to your ribbons.
Step 4: Now we are ready to glue our ribbons to outer edge of our hoop.
Continue to glue your ribbons around your hoop, until your entire hoop is covered
Let this dry for about 5 mins, before continuing to the next step.
Step 5: Once your entire hoop is covered, we are going to apply a layer of ribbon over the outer edge that we just covered. This is to cover the rim to make it look a little more uniformed. Take your glue and apply it on top of the top of the ribbons.
Now take your ribbon and cover the rim of the hoop.
Once again, we are going to let this dry for about 5 mins.
Step 6: Now we are going to cover this layer of ribbon with our buttons. Once again we are going to apply a layer of glue so we can start applying our buttons.
Continue this around the hoop, until the entire hoop is covered with buttons.
Let this set for 5 mins.
Step 7: Now we are going to add ribbons to the inner part of the hoop. For this part I recommend that you use a little thicker ribbon, but you can experiment with this and try out what works for you. I used 4 pieces of 1in. sheer ribbon. This is the part is the part that we are hanging. Cut the ribbon at the length of your choice. You might want to gauge it accordingly to the lengths that you cut your other ribbons.
Step 8: For this step, we are going to decide where to glue the ribbons. Depending on how many ribbons you are using, measure out where you want to place them. Since I used 4 ribbons, I decided to put the ribbons at 12, 3, 6 & 9 o'clock. I marked it with a pen, so I know more or less where to put my ribbon.
After you do this step it's time to glue your ribbons down.
Let the glue set and dry for about 5-10 mins.
Step 8: This is the last step. We are going to take our shower curtain ring and tie each end of our ribbons to the ring.
Now that your ribbons are all tied up, you can hang up your mobile!

***NOTES
**For this project I used my favorite glue, Beacon's 3 in 1 glue! It's awesome, quick drying and easy to work with
**I used grosgain, sheer and satin ribbons
**Felt cutouts were from Darice, but you could easily use paper if you wanted to
**Have fun and experiment with your design
I hope that this was fun for you! Thanks for hanging in there with me!! I know it was VERY long!!
Hop on to the next page! I hope you enjoy the blog hop!!
