A-L-O-H-A

Live ALOHA!!
Postcards from the edge!
Send some ALOHA!

This pic was taking on the shores of the island of Molokai! There's something about the simplicity of a lone coconut tree high up in the powdery blue sky, that can convey a beautiful feeling!

A greeting, salutation or farewell is the common use of this word, but it is so much more than that! It's a way of life! A code in which we live by!  We practice it everyday, whether it be at home showing your family how much you love them, at work lending a coworker a hand, giving your friend some advice, helping someone out at the grocery store, these are all ways of practicing Aloha! Going out of your way to do something for someone else without expecting anything in return.  If everyone could spread a little Aloha everywhere that go, the world would be such a better place! Give the gift of Aloha!

Now available in the shop! This is a postcard, the back is blank so you can write your own special greeting.   Send some Aloha via snail mail! It could also be used for scrapbooking or decoration!

Happy Hump Day!
Cheers and Aloha!

Strawberry Infusion

What are your plans for V-day?? Don't worry, even if you don't have a sweetie to spend it with that doesn't mean that you can't have a little fun.  These strawberries are sure to be a hit, whether it is with your valentine, a group of friends or even alone.  Be sure to label them, if there are children in the house, these are not for kids!

Chocolate Whipped Infused Strawberries! Doesn't it just sound delish?!! For this recipe I used Pinnacle Chocolate Whipped Vodka.  Check out their site for recipes and other flavors!

First you want to take your strawberries and wash them off.  Next you're going to remove the stems, so it's easier to handle.

Now, you are going to poke the strawberries with a toothpick in different parts of the fruit.  What you're doing, is making tiny holes to let the vodka seep in.  I poked mine about 10-15 times all around each strawberry.  After you're done making your holes, stick the toothpick down the center of the strawberry around the area the stem was in,

Find a vessel to put your strawberries in.  I used a tall cylinder shaped tupperware, but anything will work.  Fill your vessel with all your prepped fruit.

After your fruit is loaded, it's time to pour in the yummy! Add your vodka, for me I poured the entire bottle because I used a lot of strawberries and I was working with a short amount of time.

Once your vodka is in, leave it in the refrigerator as long as desired.  I left mine from the night before and took it out about lunch time the next day.  It was pretty strong.  Honestly I didn't think that it was going to be that strong, because I have gone to bars before that serve infused lychee martinis and I've been told that they leave it in the alcohol for a week if not more.  Depending on your tastes you can play with the time.  I just served mine up like this, but some guest did drop their strawberry in their juice.  You could also sprinkle some brown sugar to add some added sweetness or whip up your own martini and add it in.  It doesn't taste exactly like a chocolate covered strawberry, but it did taste like chocolate mixed with strawberries with a little added punch! Enjoy!

A great idea for a get together or a fun night in with your sweetie!

Cheers!

Bruno Bowl

Hello! Wow! January just flew by!  I know, I haven't done a good job of keeping up with blogging as promised. :( Well it was a quick but busy month.  I wish that I could say that it was all good, but it wasn't.  We were saddened with our first death of the year.  It was a sudden and very shocking one too.  When things like this happen, it really makes you put things in perspective.  It makes you realize that life, really is precious and that you should live it to it's fullest.  I hope this is the last sad new for awhile.

February is a new month, and a new year for the Chinese zodiac! It's the year of the horse! Unfortunately I wasn't able to partake in any Chinese celebrations this year.  So far it's been a quick paced month, filled with all kinds of different events.  Super Bowl!!..was well, not so super!! For those of you that tuned in, you know why! For those that didn't, you didn't miss anything in the actual game itself.  BUT!! that halftime was AWESOME!!! Shout out to our Hawaii boy Bruno Mars!! He did a great job, and the addition with the Red Hot Chili Peppers was the cherry on top!

This is a fun little flyer I made to invite people over for Super Bowl! It was the Bruno Bowl!!

Sadly, I didn't make that much decorations, because I was busy with cooking, and other things going on at the same time.  I was able to make this super simple banner, and a Bruno sign, and some "D-fence" signs.  Unfortunately, I didn't get good pics of them!( I really gotta work on the photo part)

Just like last super bowl, I used the baby onesies to make jersey looking shirts for the banner. I used colors from both teams, so it was a biased environment.(even though I was basically the only one cheering for Seattle)

This is from the Cricut cartridge Wrap it up.  After you cut out the onesie, snip the bottom part by the leg area off so it will look like a shirt.

Just add your letters on an viola! For this banner, I wanted it to be a little more simple and manly, so I opted not to add ribbons to it.  I just taped it to the wall. in order.  All in all I am happy about how it came out.

Getting back to Bruno.  The following day, Bruno Mars tickets went on sale.  He is coming to Hawaii in April for what started as 2 concerts, but because of the fast sell out they added a third show.  Well like the thousands out there, I waited by my computer from 8:30 a.m.  Tickets were going on sale from 9, but I was thinking who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and somehow get something earlier??  Haha! Wishful thinking.  The night before my auntie and I came up with kind of a plan to purchase 13 tickets.  We printed out the map of the arena he will be at, and were trying to see if we were able to actually pick out our seats or even an area.  We got it down, and thought we had everything planned out.  Boy, were we wrong!  I knew that there was a chance that we weren't gonna be able to get in, but I really didn't expect how slim the chance would be.  I asked my friend to purchase 2 floor tickets, for her and myself.  My aunty was supposed to buy the maximum 8, and I was gonna buy the other 3.  When 9 a.m. hit, I was clicking, and I got in! YES!! but wait, what? Upper level seats was all I could get, we were aiming for risers.  The site gives you a time limit on purchasing, so I was quickly trying to think what to do? My aunty and my friend were both texting me that they're not able to get in. So I just took the tickets.  My aunty wasn't able to get in at all so she kept changing her amount of tickets, and still nothing.  She got all the way down to 2, and it still wouldn't let her in.  So I jumped back on, and started trying again, and was only able to get 1 ticket at a time. UGH!!! This can't be right!? Having to think what to do in the 90 sec. time limit you're given, I booked it.  1 seat? Who wants to sit alone?? I tried again...1 seat! ugh! noooo not again. I booked it! This went on 2 more times!! I kept thinking to myself, am I making a mistake getting individual seats?? What if nobody wants to sit by themselves?  The concert sold out within minutes.  They quickly added a third concert, so I tried again.  Sadly I wasn't as lucky and couldn't get in at all!!!  Out of the 13 tickets that I needed, I was only able to get 7! :( I kept trying all day, hoping that something would open or that there was a mistake and there were more seats.  As the days of the week progressed, the tickets ended up on third party reselling sites, craigslist, etc.  for ridiculous prices!  It's so sad, that a lot of people weren't able to get tickets.  I don't regret getting the solo seats, and they are somewhat close to each other.  Hopefully if everyone is standing up dancing, then the 4 people can stand together, and won't bother anyone.

Here's a shot of the Platinum seating that was left on the first day.  In the morning the tickets were about $260 or so, and by the end of the day this is how high it went.

This is from a third party reselling site, the day after tickets went on sale.  Yes! that does say $8800.00 OMG!!!WTF??!and every other word you can think of!  Granted these are great seats, but c'mon! Who has that kind of money to pay for tickets? It's just crazy!!

For those that haven't seen it yet, here is the halftime show!

I'll leave you with this parting shot!

This was basically the only food pic I got of all the good eats! It's fresh sashimi!! Thanks for sticking with me, on this long post!

See you soon!

Cheers!
