Eleven more to go

The month of January has come and gone.
Resolution update:
-Completed the Master Cleanse 21 days to be exact! One accomplishment for the first month of the year! Lost about 20lbs. so far.  Goal is to lose at least 15 more and to keep it off!  This is one thing, that I am sure of that I never want to go back to.
-Keeping up with the crafting is another goal that has been steady, it could be a little better.  I know that this is a working progress and I will never give up on it.  Within the last 2 weeks I have a bunch of projects added to my list, and for that I'm grateful.

-February: I will set some new goals for this month, thank goodness it's a leap year! I need that extra day! haha!
-Challenge myself everyday in some form or another.
-Exercise regularly!  Now that the cleanse is over, I need to get the sweat going!  I want to incorporate daily walks to the beach.  Actually get in the water and swim and exercise.
-Continue to eat healthy, and change lifestyle!
-Do more adventurous activities! I really want to go skydiving!
-Do better financially, set higher goals for myself.
-Save money and be more financially stable.
-Get taxes done early!
The list will go on...
I hope that month two, brings bigger and better days!  I will always strive for more!

Drinkie Tickets

These were drink tickets that I made for one of my sweeties wedding last year!! Her colors were Navy and Hot Pink!  This was a fun way to distribute drink tickets to the guests!  It's a scalloped pocket with postage stamp tickets all accented with a simple tiny heart!

Words of Wisdom

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it  living someone else's life.  Don't be trapped by dogma-which is living with the results of other people's thinking.  Don't let the noise of others opinions drown out your own inner voice.  And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  They somehow already know what you truly want to become.  Everything else is secondary."

Hello Kitty Slap Bracelets

Do you remember back in the 90's the rage was slap bracelets?? I remember they were everywhere and they were even contraband from some schools, because people were slapping them too hard and it was becoming a hazard as well as a major distraction.  They are basically made with a metal that bends and covered with a sleeve.  It's either material or plastic.  Well a couple years back, while walking around the craft store, I found these corsage bracelets that are basically the same concept.  They are made for wrist corsages, they are a little better made and thicker.  They come with a plastic piece to add things on top of.  I ended up buying a pack of 6, and really wanted to do something with them.  I took it home and instantly thought of making hello kitty bracelets.  I made the hello kitty head out of stiffened felt and layered it.  Then simply glued the head to the plastic piece that comes with the bracelet.  I also added some ribbon to the band part to make it look a little more exciting.  That was it, I had a fun hello kitty bracelet instantly!  It ended up being a huge hit, especially with the little girls.  I am thinking about doing it again, but trying to add a little more to it.

I got a sizzix eclips machine for Christmas, and I just opened it the other day.  All I have to say, it that I LOVE it!!! I was a little on the fence in the beginning, when this machine first came out because I do have a cricut machine also.  The cricut machine is great and being that I have had it for so long, I do have a lot of cartridges for it.  That's why I did prolong getting the eclips.  I did a little better research on the eclips and I found out that it does have different features from the cricut.  It is a little more advanced, so I started to put a little more interest into it.  I finally got one for Christmas from my mom!  I was a little intimidated by the size of the box, because it was so huge!  It sat in the corner for weeks, and last week I finally cracker that sucker open!  The machine is actually a little lighter in weight than the cricut and even has a handle for easy transport.  I played around with it for a little while and was trying to get the hang of things.  I downloaded the ECAL software, and today I finally used it!! It is so AWESOME!! I love, love, love it!!  The possibilities are endless with this program, and I have so many ideas running through my head.  It's so exciting!

Inspiration in Nature

I went for a walk down by the beach the other morning, and took some pictures of things that I saw.  I found it very inspiring to see all the colors and different textures.  Looking to try and incorporate some of these ideas into my creations.  It's nice to find inspiration from things out of your regular routine.  I hope to be able to create things as beautiful.  I'm thinking about incorporating a daily walk down by the beach.

Hello Kitty Easter Bunny

Little bunny foo foo...hoping through the forest!!  This was a birthday invitation that I made for a birthday party last year, that was during Easter time.  I used the Tags, Bags and Boxes circut cartridge for the outer pocket and inner card.  For the outside design, I used the Sizzix Hello Kitty bunny.  The basket and grass were also made with a cricut cartridge, but I can't remember which cartridges I used.  The butterfly was a punch, and the jelly beans were stickers.  It was a little time consuming, but it was well worth it!! My friend LOVED it and was very, very happy with it.  I think I will use this bunny again this Easter!!

Super Bowl

Super Bowl is coming up next week.  I've been on Pinterest all afternoon looking for recipes to try for Super Bowl!  It's amazing the amount of things that I have found on there.  I literally have dozens of things on my food board.  I am printing them out as I type.  I guess after being on the cleanse and preparing myself for regular eating has got me a little excited!  I have to admit it is a little exciting!  I just have to take things in moderation and don't over indulge!  I'm not too excited about the 2 teams in the Super Bowl this year, so that's why the food is a big deal!! Who am I kidding, the food is always the most important part!! Next to the commercials of course! I guess we will see who shows up to play that day?! I just hope that it's a good game!!  I'm planning on making decorations to hang up around the house and garage.  It adds a little more excitement into things, and gives me a reason to make stuff!! :)  May the best team win!!

Newest Hanger

Here is the newest hanger, it's a little different than the others.  I wanted to try something different and my resources are still a little dry on the material side of things.  I think it still looks super cute!

Tea Inspiration/ Master Cleanse update

This was on the tea bag that I drank a couple days in on my master cleanse.  I think that's so awesome that they put these messages on them.  It was a detox tea, and it actually didn't taste that bad.  It was a little easier to swallow with this little message looking back at me.  It is the little things that get us through the day that make a big impact on our lives.
Master Cleanse update...
So today is my 21st day of the master cleanse and it is my last!  I don't think that I can continue to 40 days.  That would be a little too much for me.  I now have to get my body back into the swing of eating again, so with that comes 4 days of proper preparation.  Having completing the master cleanse, I do feel a little proud of myself for being able to do it.  I have lost some weight, now is the hard part of maintaining proper eating and leading a healthier life and keeping the weight off.  I am going to try my best to make this a priority in my life from here on out.

Happy Year of the Dragon!

The Dragon personality The Dragon is a creature of myth and legend. A symbol of good fortune and sign of intense power, the Oriental Dragon is regarded as a divine beast - the reverse of the malicious monster that Westerners felt necessary to find and slay. In Eastern philosophy, the Dragon is said to be a deliverer of good fortune and a master of authority. Therefore, those people born in Dragon years are to be honored and respected.

Years of the Dragon
Fifth in the cycle, Dragon Years follow the Rabbit and recur every twelfth year. The Chinese New Year does not fall on a specific date, so it is essential to check the calendar to find the exact date on which each Dragon Year actually begins
1904 * 1916 * 1928 * 1940 * 1952 * 1964 * 1976 * 1988 * 2000
The key to the Dragon personality is that Dragons are the free spirits of the Zodiac. Conformation is a Dragon's curse. Rules and regulations are made for other people. Restrictions blow out the creative spark that is ready to flame into life. Dragons must be free and uninhibited. The Dragon is a beautiful creature, colorful and flamboyant. An extroverted bundle of energy, gifted and utterly irrepressible, everything Dragons do is on a grand scale - big ideas, ornate gestures, extreme ambitions. However, this behavior is natural and isn't meant for show. Because they are confident, fearless in the face of challenge, they are almost inevitably successful. Dragons usually make it to the top. However, Dragon people be aware of their natures. Too much enthusiasm can leave them tired and unfulfilled. Even though they are willing to aid when necessary, their pride can often impede them from accepting the same kind of help from others. Dragons' generous personalities give them the ability to attract friends, but they can be rather solitary people at heart. A Dragon's self-sufficiency can mean that he or she has no need for close bonds with other people.
People born in the Year of the Dragon share certain characteristics. The Dragon sign is an abbreviated way of characterizing that individual's personality. Following are features associated with the sign of the Dragon.
Fifth in order, Chinese name-LONG, sign of luck
Hour-7am-8:59 a.m. Month-April
Western Counterpart-Aries
  • Innovative
  • Enterprising
  • Flexible
  • Self-assured
  • Brave
  • Passionate
  • Conceited
  • Tactless
  • Scrutinizing
  • Unanticipated
  • Quick-tempered

The characteristics of the Dragon Sign are tempered by one of the five Chinese elements of Metal, Water, Wood, Fire and Earth overlaying a 5-year cycle of characteristics on the original 12-year cycle.

Truthful but extreme, courageous but unyielding, Metal Dragons have a strength similar to the Dragon fire. Metal Dragons succeed through determination. They are mighty and respect people who stand up to them. In troubled times, these Dragons make great allies, but become ferocious challengers. Metal Dragons can often calm others through their forceful personalities. They seek action, and things are never better than when they are defending a thought or belief about which they have complete faith. Metal Dragons like to lead, and have an affect that makes others want to follow them. Yet even if they attract no support they will fight alone.
Water has a calming effect on the Dragon's fearless temperament. Water allows the Dragon to re-direct its enthusiasm, and makes him more perceptive of others. These Dragons are better equipped to take a step back to re-evaluate a situation because they understand the art of patience and do not desire the spotlight like other Dragons. Therefore, they make smart decisions and are able to see eye-to-eye with other people. However, their actions can go wrong if they do not research or if they do not finish one project before starting another.
Wood has a modifying influence and brings creativity to this sign. Questioning and liberal, Wood Dragons enjoy talking about original ideas and are open to other points of view. They are innovative, imaginative practical and appreciate art in each of its forms. Generally less pretentious than other Dragons, Wood Dragons have an ability to get along with other people. They have the essentials to build a prosperous and happy life for themselves. Still, Wood Dragons are outspoken and at times a bit pushy to quell everyone, even in the most friendly quarrel.
The Fire Dragon is a powerful force to be reckoned with. This is a Dragon doubled! The Fire Dragon can move from calm and collected to combustible in a matter of seconds. In some ways the Fire Dragon is his or her own worst enemy. These Dragons cannot help feeling they are valuable and all-knowing. When they are right their vehemence and vigor is an asset to the cause, and though they value objectivity, they do not always employ the best decision-making measures, and sometimes jump to the wrong conclusion. They also suffer from recklessness and quick tempers. Yet, when they do keep their temper, emotions, and rivaling spirit under control, they emanate a commanding influence on other people.
Earth Dragons make great managers because they are practical, levelheaded and demonstrate a knack for organizing. They still have the need to dictate and be admired, but they are affable, congenial and supportive. Compared to other Dragons, Earth Dragons are less likely to breathe fire at the least irritation. They will work diligently to complete their life goals. The Earth element adds a greater portion of self-control to the Dragon's personality and usually the Earth Dragon is deserving of the respect he or she desires. These Dragons take their life and romantic responsibilities quite seriously.
Dragons take thrilling risks and burn the candle at both ends so they are fortunate to be blessed with good health. Among the most hearty of the Animal signs, they can suffer bad health as a result of stress. Symptoms of their personalities often stem from emotional outbursts and can range from tension headaches to depression to hypertension. Dragons can remedy these problems by maintaining their cool, implementing a routine in their daily lives, and utilizing exercises such as yoga or tai kwon do that soothe the mind and spirit as well as tone the body.
Not the most domesticated of the Animal signs, Dragons and may be more content out and about rather than at home. Nevertheless, with their imagination and artistic sense, they can enjoy decorating their home or anywhere else where their extravagance can be expressed.. A Dragon's home should be as large and majestic as his personality, providing space for the fiery temperament or emotional eruptions that accompany their character.
The Dragon's originality is the most impressive and outstanding of all his characteristics. The Dragon is quite imaginative and always able to see new paths where others may run into brick walls. Dragons are very adaptable and are fit for various occupations, especially if those occupations allow him to take the limelight. In any of these occupational situations, the Dragons will take a radical approach. Dragons work hard, but would rather give orders than receive them. They should avoid jobs that encompass too much routine, and should move toward jobs in which their self-reliance can be an asset.
Dragons like to spend money and are charitable themselves as well as with others. They do not know the meaning of the word "accumulate," and making money does not intrigue them as it may others. Many Dragons will take big chances with their finances, sometimes betting on their shirt and losing it right off of their backs. Yet, they were born with the Midas Touch, and it very rare that a Dragon remains poor for long. Dragons will always be straightforward in financial dealings and can always be trusted.
Those born in the Year of the Dragon also share the same kinds of goals and objectives in life. The occupations best suited for the Dragon are listed below:
  • Computer analysts
  • Inventors
  • Engineers
  • Architects
  • Lawyers
  • Philosophers
  • Psychoanalysts
  • Brokers
  • Managers
  • Salepeople
  • PR People
  • Advertising agents
  • Officers in the armed forces
  • Campaigners
  • Politicians

Whether Dragons are compatible with their business partners depends on whether their signs are harmonious or antagonistic to each that of their partners. Considering the congruity of the components of their own characters and the characters of their business colleagues can also be very useful.

Leisurely activities and pleasures

Since Dragons are born under the same Animal sign, they often share likes and dislikes. Following are similar likes and dislikes of the Dragon personality:
Color Preference: Greenish-Blue
Gems and Stones: Opal, Sapphire, Amber
Suitable Gifts: Tarot cards, camera, a copy of the I Ching, mirror, a family crest, mobile phone
Hobbies and Pastimes: Computer programming, public speaking, fossil hunting, astrology
Dragons Dislike: Taking orders, unnecessary bureaucracy, discounted ideas, people who don't give 100%
Dragons are attracted by the bizarre. No self-respecting Dragon desires to walk in a tourist's footsteps. Instead, they take a lot of gratification in finding hidden destinations, or, closer to home, locations off the beaten track. But Dragons also need thrills, which they might find by taking an unplanned winter break to go skiing or a spontaneous rock climbing trip in the spring. They may even test their bravery by daring to ride the highest roller coaster in the world. Dragons are also sentimental at heart, so conquering their childhood haunts, or taking a second honeymoon would bring immense pleasure too.
Dragons are usually popular people, but because of their personalities, they seem to gather as much criticism as they do esteem. Due to their tumultuous temperaments, Dragons are not the most sensitive friends to those in need of a shoulder to cry on. Those who truly know the Dragon know he is a loving soul who will become your best ally in times of need. Once the dynamic Dragon has given his friendship, he will not let his friends down and will never falter in his allegiance to his companions. To a Dragon, a friend is a friend for a lifetime. Incredibly honest, Dragons are known for sincerity and are trusting souls. Because of this honesty, Dragons don't realize others may not demonstrate or uphold the same codes of ethics. Making the discovery that they placed their trust in someone who is dishonest makes the Dragon person quite sad, yet much more perceptive for future encounters.
Compatible Friends
Best Friends: Rats and Monkeys
Mortal Enemy: Dogs

Because people born in the year of the Dragon are so working on furthering their careers, they usually Put off having and raising children until later than many of the other Chinese horoscope signs. Parenting doesn't come very naturally easily to the Dragon. However, when Dragons do become parents, they approach it with the same enthusiasm as other endeavors. They are proud parents and tend to boast about the accomplishments and good looks of their children.
Dog children are creative, able to entertain themselves for hours on end. They don’t mind playing by themselves, often inventing games and puzzles while doing so. They are responsible children who love to take on and complete as many tasks as possible for it gives them a sense of accomplishment.

Dragons, noted for their benevolence, tend to shower their children with toys and spending money. It has been remarked that they substitute material things for quality time with their children. Even so, Dragons take parenting seriously and are quite protective of their children's welfare. Should anything upset them, or should anyone wrong them, the Dragon will prepare to fight and avenge the people who have hurt or belittled their offspring.
Like their adult counterparts, children born in the Year of the Dragon have vivid personalities and are independent from birth. Noisy and active, parents should stimulate their imaginations as soon as possible. Their imagination and inquisitive natures can be troublesome for the Dragon child and can often land them in a heap of trouble at school which can cause teachers and other parents to deem them troublemakers or naughty. Sometimes Dragon children are loners who daydream and drift to into their own world of make-believe. Either way, Dragon children demand careful attention and special handling in order to bring out the best in them. Their creativity and talents must be encouraged, even if it means spending extra time in certain school subjects in order to help them master the subject. .
Some parents immediately click with their children and others find they will never have a close relationship, no matter how hard they try to make it happen. Following are the compatibility ratings between Dragon parents and their children.

I Love Hello Kitty

Well it's no secret that I love Hello Kitty!  Her and I have been together for 20+ years.  I have items from her that date back to 19--, you get the picture.  There's something about her, that just makes me smile.  Sometimes when I'm having a bad day, I'll go to the Sanrio store and just wander around in there and it can make my day just a little bit better.  I know that there are a lot of people out there that just hate Hello Kitty, which is completely absurd to me.  How can anyone not like Hello Kitty?  The thing that I love about Sanrio and Hello Kitty, is that se never gets old.  They keep reinventing her and it's always so damn cute!!  The things that they can do with her are limitless, and they keep coming out with more surprises.  The only thing that Sanrio lacks is a totally boys line.  They have a few here and there things for boy options, but it doesn't scream BOY! I think that if they did have more of a boys line, they could ultimately be a one stop shop for gifts.  That would make them that more AWESOME!  I'm loving the new things coming out and can't wait to get some them.  Until then, my love affair with Hello Kitty will continue to go on.

I've been trying different things with crafting.  Pulling myself out of the norm and testing the waters in other realms of the crafting world.  One of the things that I have been doing is trying to find inspiration from different areas.  Like looking at things from a different perspective and working with different materials and even as simple as trying out new colors and color patterns.  I still tend to go back to my old ways, I guess because of comfort and I tend to be a creature of habit when it comes to colors.  The color thing is something that I have been trying to break or a while now, and I think slowly there's some progress.  I know that sometimes when it comes to certain things, there are some colors that just work.  That's the hard part, when you're trying to pass your ideas off to other people and it's out of the norm.  It's a working progress and I will continue to try different things and hopefully soon I will have something to show for it.

Bridal Shower Invitations

This is a bridal shower invitation that I made for one of my lovelies bridal shower.  Her theme colors were Navy Blue and Hot Pink, so this is what I came up with.  I need to come up with a surprise 90th birthday invitation, so I am thinking of using this same format for that.  It's simple, but yet still looks inviting and celebratory.

Twilight Party

This was from my nieces birthday party a couple years back.  I just recently found the pictures and decided to post them.  It's nothing fancy, but it's twilight themed.  We had a birthday party at our house, the day after the DVD was released.  So it was a movie themed party.  The invitations were made on the computer to look like a movie ticket.  We decorated the house in blacks, reds, and whites to go with the theme.  We bought fresh flowers and dressed up the tables.  We couldn't get tulips, so we used white carnations and drizzled red glitter glue on them to make it look like the flower on the book.  We made signs and put them all around the house to go with the movie.  We bought different flavors of popcorn and got popcorn boxes and served them like the theaters.  The girls had a blast!  The movie of course was a hit!  All in all it was a successful party.

Hello Kitty hangers, I started making these a couple years ago.  At first they weren't that much of a hit, but after a while they slowly started to catch on.  I have been wanting to bring them back again, but my local resources have run dry.  So I'm currently thinking about going through the internet to get my materials, and see how it goes.  Stay tuned for more hangers!
