Bannaners!

 

This crafting weekend was dedicated to making banners!  It was b-a-n-n-a-n-n-e-r-s!  I have 3 baby showers within the next couple of weeks!  There must be something in the water?!  All 3 are due within 3 days apart from each other.  The first pictures are for a Mickey & Minnie themed baby shower, which the parents to be don't know the sex of the baby.  How exciting!! The second batch of pictures is for a surprise baby boy blue shower!! The last group of pictures is also for a baby boy shower.  The theme is animals, mainly monkeys and giraffes in brown and green colors!  Next up, more decorations and favors! Stay tuned!

This something fast and simple that I made for my niece to use for school and reading.  It came out so cute, I think I'm going to have to make myself one too!  I made it double-sided and added some pretty ribbon in the middle.  I think it's a great way to make reading a little more exciting for kids.  It also makes their books look more enticing! haha! This is a great idea for adding to a book for a gift.   The great thing is that it doesn't have to be for only children, it's great for adults too.  Add your favorite shape or animal and a ribbon and you're set!  Next up, I'm going to make corner bookmarks.  I've been wanting to make these for awhile!

It's Black...It's White...

This weeks Tuesday Alchemy challenge is all about black and white!! This was not my original idea for this project, but what I wanted to do didn't come out how I wanted it to.  I was ready to throw in the towel, but decided to do something.  As a last minute attempt, this is what I came up with.  I know it's really simple and nothing out of the box, but I wanted to submit something.  

What's black and white with checkers all over?  This zebra!!  

This card could be used for any occasion, for any age and for both male or female.

Go 90!

This is another party that I helped with and attend this weekend!  My uncle's 90th surprise birthday!  Yes! 90th!  He's so strong and healthy, it's unbelievable! The theme was University of Hawaii sports, first seen here!  He is a big fan!! The centerpieces were made from the Choya umeshu bottles seen here.  It was very simple, I just cut some sports balls in the school colors along with the school logo and pasted them on the bottles.  We added some water marbles and fresh cut flowers and topped it off with a tuxedo style bow.  The best part was consuming the Umeshu to empty the bottles! ;)  Everything went so smoothly and it was a nice, relaxing party!! We can all wish to be in this great health at 90 years old! 

Mickey Mouse rocks the house!

Here is a mish mash of the Mickey party! It was a nice little Saturday, the sun was blazing the air was just right and the kids had tons of fun playing on the water slide!  Lots to eat, delish desserts and great company!  It was a festive party and it was a total success!  I realized that I am fired as a photographer!  I really need to get it together when it comes to the picture taking end.  I always forget to take pictures! I even tell myself don't forget to take pictures, and I still don't do it or I remember way later and by that time it just doesn't look the same.  I need to work this into my routine, and make it a habit.  I really wish that I had better pictures to share! Lesson learned.

Stop and smell the roses

Well sort of, more like look at the lilies!  The point is to take a break and look around you, be grateful for what you have.  I have had a hellish week, well technically a terrible month, year, etc.  What next? Seriously!! I feel like my world is crumbling down around me.  Life has been testing me a lot lately.  With everything happening, the only thing that comforts me is thinking that  things could be worse! I find myself taking time to enjoy the view, the simplicity around me.  That  is what gets me through the day.  I find that nature's beauty has always helped me whenever I'm down.  A drive along the coastline, watching the ocean tumble, the beauty and fragrance of flowers, listening to the leaves rustle, hearing the wind caress the trees as they sway, all of these are natural healing for the wounded spirit.  When you're feeling down, what gets you through the day??

 In the back of my head, I keep hearing the saying, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade!  I know that I have to put on my big girl panties, grab life by the balls with my middle finger in the air and just get through it!

Model citizen

I was trying out a few things,  and didn't have a measuring stick on hand.  I needed something to try in for size, so I took to none other then my go to model!   Isn't he so cute?!  I needed a head close to a child's size to help me gauge the proper sizing for some party hats.  He actually was a lot of help with this matter, I realized that I was making things way too small.  Now it's back to the drawing board to try it out again.  Do you use out of the norm things when you are in a bind? What are your measuring sticks?

Spring Garden

 

This weeks challenge, is Spring!   I made this garden as part of a baby shower gift.  The "flowers" are upside down See's lollipops.  I decorated them to look like flowers and put them all together in a larger box to look like a garden.  This gift is for the parents to take with them to the hospital to give to their visitors.  The vibrant colors and different flowers and butterflies reminds me of Spring!!

It's all in the VOICE!

For those of you that haven't been keeping up with The Voice, what are you doing??! Here's a recap of this week!  It was sooooo good!! Juliet Simms voice is soooooo dope! That's what Christina said, she even got a standing O from Ms Xtina herself.  Juliet is on Cee-lo's team, so you know if you're not on Christina's team and she stood up for you, you did something right!! Gotta give props to Hawaii girl Cheesa!  She did great on Monday night, but she didn't get the votes to get saved.  She had to battle it out with 2 of her teammates, and battle she did!  She was AWESOME!! She deserved to make it to the next round!  Also I think it's so cute how she always throws the SHAKA!!  I think this show is so much better than all the other singing shows out there.  The concept is great, and it really does show that it's in the voice and not the appearance!

M-I-C-K-E-Y

I am currently working on birthday invitations, and the theme is none other then the man himself! The only guy that can go around wearing no shirt, short shorts, white gloves, yellow shoes and talks in a high voice and no one questions his masculinity?! hah! Yes! It's Mickey Mouse!!  I went very simple on this one, just a little embossing, a die cut, some punches and embellishments and we've got a party going on! Stay tuned for the rest of the party goodies!

Ruffles & Lace

Recently we had some Tuesday Alchemy challenges that were based on ruffles and ever since, I've been finding a lot of inspiration in ruffles and lace.  I find inspiration in my clothing and recently I've been wearing a bunch of lace and ruffles.  My mind is stirring, thinking of a project to try with these elements.  It's so elegant and lovely, something that I'm not used to.  Hah! I tend to lean a lot towards the cutesy! We'll see how it goes.  Stay tuned!

Wedding Wishing Tree

Unfortunately, I didn't get good pictures of the tree that I made for the wedding that I attended last weekend.  I am still waiting to see if some will turn up from other people.  Here's the jist of what I made.  You write your wish on a tag and stick in a pocket, then hang it on the tree.  The bride and groom will have these wishes as keepsakes for their new journey together.  These were the wedding colors and the theme was vintage and everything was very beautiful and ever so elegant! I was glad to be a part of something so lovely!
