Craft Wars

I finally got a chance to watch Craft Wars!!  It is pretty inspiring! I highly recommend it for all you crafters/diyers out there!  Even if you're not that crafty, but can appreciate something handmade it's easy viewing.  You never know, it might even inspire you to pick up a glue gun and start a project of your own.   Tori Spelling is the host of the show, along with her there are 3 judges, Stephen Brown, Erika Domesek & Jo Pearson.  All come with high accolades in the design and craft world!

The competition takes place in a warehouse with a gigantic craft wall, filled with every craft item you could think of!  It's a crafters wet dream! They also have a wood shop and paint area outside for their use as well.  The 1st round all 3 contestants are allowed to bring in 1 assistant of their choice to help them with the challenge.  The challenge is given, along with a load of supplies having to do with the challenge, and each have 1 hour to complete it.  The judges watch as the contestants go through the whole process from stat to finish and critique their creations.  1 contestant is eliminated after the 1st round and the other 2 move on to the final round.  The final round the contestants are given 5 hours to complete the challenge.  The final round follows pretty much the same format, except this round they get a  team of helpers to help them get everything done. The judges look for design, esthetic, function, durability & style.  After the judges go through the critiquing process again, 1 crafter is crowned the winner and takes home a $10,000 prize!

After watching the first 3 episodes, I wanted to jump in and follow along! I think that the hardest part is being able to think quick on your feet.  You literally have to think on the spot, and just start getting things done on the fly.  There is no time for trial and error at all.  It really is a challenge, and in the end it is a war!

If you haven't had the chance to watch this yet, I say give it a whirl! It's on TLC on Tuesdays, check you local listings for times. If you have seen it, what do you think??
