Everything's SWELL

Just wanted to say that everything's SWELL!  Here in Hawaii we've been having a couple weeks of South Shore swell!  This is a picture that I captured, the first couple days of the swell!  This is the infamous Sandy Beach!  There were all walks of life among me, young, old, locals, tourist, all there watching nature show off.  It really made me realize the power of nature's beauty!  We come from our own differences, but something as simple as sitting on the sand and enjoying the ocean can bring us together.  Remember that it's the simple things that make life great!  No matter where you are in your life, try to always find the good in everything.  Don't let the bullshit get you down, sit back and enjoy what life has to offer!

Have a safe Memorial Day weekend!
Summer is officially here!

Parting Song!

Happy Mail

I recently found a penpal, not just any penpal but a Hello Kitty penpal! :)  Obvie, I'm a HUGE Hello Kitty fan, so this is exciting for me!  What we're doing is exchanging Hello Kitty stationary and stickers, as well as getting to know each other.  This was my first letter to her!  I used this pretty pink and gold Hello Kitty stationary with matching envelope!  It was fun writing a letter, I felt young again! haha!  With technology keeping us going at a quick pace, who ever writes letters and mails them these days?  I remember having penpals as a child, writing to friends and family all over the U.S.  Children these days are sort of robbed of that experience.  Sure they can write emails, and send e-cards, make photo books, etc., but I still think that a handwritten letter is so much more sentimental and personal!  I hope children at least know how to write and address letters?  I remember my niece and nephew learned how in school before.  They had to write a letter to their parents, they learned how to write it, address the envelope, and got to go to the post office to buy a stamp and mail it.  I hope every child learns how to do this.

These are some of the things that I used and added for my package!  She's a huge Hello Kitty fan as well, so I know that she'll love everything!

Since I know that she has a lot of Hello Kitty things, I decided to add some handmade Hello Kitty items in the package as well.  I know that she can use these for other letters or to decorate with.

I added a handmade Hello Kitty card, that she can use for a birthday gift!

I have this Mighty Wallet that I wanted to share, since it looks like an old school letter and it's Hello Kitty I felt it was appropriate.  This wallet is so cool! It's very strong and the story behind the company is pretty cool! Check it out!!

Stay tuned for updates on the penpal!

52 Lists: Week 13

I'm still trying to catch with Moorea Seal's 52 list project! I will get there some day, hopefully soon!! Week 13, is to list the things that you want to make.  I had to do a lot of editing for this list, because I literally want to make everything!!  I narrowed it down to more practical things, and to things that I know I can do or figure out on my own.

Here's my list:
-repurpose furniture -furniture -jewelry -print canvas -silk screen bags & clothing -slippers -photo book -corn hole set -pottery -bling things -brine shirts -air plants -pot plants -modge podge
-bedazzle shoes & clothing -make paper -make stamps -create a card & gift program for sick & elderly patients
-a craft & design workroom.

I've always had a thing for furniture.  I am not really sure what it is, but I love it!  All types, all colors, all textures.  I have always wanted to do wood working, even though I failed terribly in wood shop in intermediate.  I've been wanting to learn how to properly use wood cutting tools and start making all sorts of things with wood.  I really want to start wood burning.  I didn't put that on the list, because I really don't know how to do it, so it would be something that I have to learn first.

Silk screening has been something that I've been wanting to do for a while now.  I have all these ideas that I want to do, but have never taken the time to actually do them.  I would love to do baby onesies or kids t-shirts and bags!  I'm getting excited just typing this!! haha!

I put pottery on the list, even though I really don't have any formal training in pottery, I think I could mold something cool.  I love free form and unstructured pottery.  I would love to make little pots for plants.  Which brings me to the air plants and pot plants on my list.  I love plants and flowers.  There's something soothing about them, and I love the nurture aspect of it all.  When you help something grow, you take pride and feel a sense of accomplishment!  I especially love tiny plants, I think they are just too cute.  they also make great decor and gifts!

A craft and design workroom is something that I've always wanted!  I see all these craft rooms and I envy every single one of them, no matter how big or how small.  I had a plan for a room in my house, but that fell through and the room is currently being occupied.  Back to the drawing board, still trying to find a better system for organization and work space.  One day...

Just a little insight on some items on my list.

What are some things that you want to make?

Cheers! A toast to creativity!

Just Keep Swimming!

There are many different meanings behind fish.  From good luck, long life, and even fertility to name a few. I have always loved fish!  All different kinds of fish!  They're interesting, beautiful, smart and also tasty!  Yes I said it, tasty!! I can eat raw ahi everyday!  This time last year, I helped with a baby shower for one of my besties!  It was a surprise shower, she was having a boy, and didn't really have a theme.  The shower was on May 5, which in Hawaii has been celebrated as "boy's day", recently it was changed to "children's day" I am not really sure why?  With all these things coming into play, I decided to go with fish-n- pinwheels for the theme.  Fast forward one year later, and we are planning his first birthday party!  Wouldn't you know, the theme is fish!

These are some of the fishes that I made for the invitations!  The colors are Lime Green, Orange and Blue!  Being that I needed to make a lot of invitations, I used all different shades for these colors, just as long as they were within the same family.  I made them all different too, there were barely any duplicates.

Being that it's a boys party, I didn't want to make it too frilly and add too much embellishments, so I kept it simple.  I corner rounded the edges to give it a little dimension.  The invitation has a decorative band that slides off, and the invitation opens from the middle.  I made the fish with the create a critter cricut cartridge, cut to 1 1/2".  This is the first time, I did this type of invitation.  I just kinda went with it, making adjustments along the way.  I got to use my scor-pal, so that was fun!!  This type of invitation can be made in various ways.  Use decorative scissors to change up the edges or if you're feeling ambitious you can even cut a shape out on each side.  I wish I had a picture of more of the invitations, so you could see that I made them in all different combos using the same colors.  I am a firm believer that not everything has to look the same, when it comes to these kinds of situations.  Especially if you want to use up what you have or a lot of the time if you're doing larger quantities all of the same colors aren't always available.  In this case that actually did happen to me.  I think it's because it's graduation season, a lot of stores didn't have blues.

With that being said,  It's O-FISH-al!  It's party time!  Stay tuned for a lot more to come with this ONE-derland party!

Here is a picture of a real fish pond that I took while on staycation!

I'm sure a lot of you have heard that there's going to be a Where's Dory movie coming out, continuing from Finding Nemo, with Dory the fish played by Ellen Dengeneres(love her!).  I'm sure it's going to be a huge hit!!

Whenever you're having a bad day, just remember

JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

Have a great weekend!!

52 Lists: Week 12

May Day is Lei day in Hawaii!! :)
 Happy May!
Can you believe that it's May already?! Oh my! The year is almost half done and I feel like I haven't gotten much done?!  May is always filled with so many different things to do.  It starts off with May Day, then it's off to the races with the Kentucky Derby!  I love to pick a favorite and see how will I do.  I would love to one day actually get a chance to go to the derby and wear a huge silly hat and drink mint juleps!...One day!  Then we come into Mother's day, and some college graduations, then Memorial day and the high school graduations start, then before you know it, it's June!  The weather has still been very gross! Sticky, voggy, and unpredictable!  It's not summer yet, and it's so hot!  I can only imagine what the summer months will be like!

Continuing with  Moorea Seal's 52 lists project, this week I am on Week 12: List the things that make you feel like home.

I took this picture on a hike, I felt like it was perfect for the subject because seeing this mountain makes me feel like home!  It's amazing how the little things that fill up our day really make an impact on us.  After completing this list, I realize that the comforts of home really form who I am.  Enjoying life's simplicity is what it comes down to.

Here's my list:
-ocean -rainbows -warm weather -sun -breeze -driving along the coastline -mountains -toes in the sand -palm trees -beach -laughter -being around family -food -smell of rain -sunny rain -rain -fresh air -watching the waves wash ashore

What makes you feel like home?

Cheers! A toast to creativity!
