Just Keep Swimming!

There are many different meanings behind fish.  From good luck, long life, and even fertility to name a few. I have always loved fish!  All different kinds of fish!  They're interesting, beautiful, smart and also tasty!  Yes I said it, tasty!! I can eat raw ahi everyday!  This time last year, I helped with a baby shower for one of my besties!  It was a surprise shower, she was having a boy, and didn't really have a theme.  The shower was on May 5, which in Hawaii has been celebrated as "boy's day", recently it was changed to "children's day" I am not really sure why?  With all these things coming into play, I decided to go with fish-n- pinwheels for the theme.  Fast forward one year later, and we are planning his first birthday party!  Wouldn't you know, the theme is fish!

These are some of the fishes that I made for the invitations!  The colors are Lime Green, Orange and Blue!  Being that I needed to make a lot of invitations, I used all different shades for these colors, just as long as they were within the same family.  I made them all different too, there were barely any duplicates.

Being that it's a boys party, I didn't want to make it too frilly and add too much embellishments, so I kept it simple.  I corner rounded the edges to give it a little dimension.  The invitation has a decorative band that slides off, and the invitation opens from the middle.  I made the fish with the create a critter cricut cartridge, cut to 1 1/2".  This is the first time, I did this type of invitation.  I just kinda went with it, making adjustments along the way.  I got to use my scor-pal, so that was fun!!  This type of invitation can be made in various ways.  Use decorative scissors to change up the edges or if you're feeling ambitious you can even cut a shape out on each side.  I wish I had a picture of more of the invitations, so you could see that I made them in all different combos using the same colors.  I am a firm believer that not everything has to look the same, when it comes to these kinds of situations.  Especially if you want to use up what you have or a lot of the time if you're doing larger quantities all of the same colors aren't always available.  In this case that actually did happen to me.  I think it's because it's graduation season, a lot of stores didn't have blues.

With that being said,  It's O-FISH-al!  It's party time!  Stay tuned for a lot more to come with this ONE-derland party!

Here is a picture of a real fish pond that I took while on staycation!

I'm sure a lot of you have heard that there's going to be a Where's Dory movie coming out, continuing from Finding Nemo, with Dory the fish played by Ellen Dengeneres(love her!).  I'm sure it's going to be a huge hit!!

Whenever you're having a bad day, just remember

JUST KEEP SWIMMING!

Have a great weekend!!

Cheers! A toast to creativity!

GO! #85

 Birthday Party/Super Bowl Party Invitations
This invitation is for an young lady turning 85, who's favorite color happens to be..umm you guessed it PURPLE!  The theme is football, since it's on Super Bowl Sunday.  I used my cricut for everything on this invitation.  I cut the rectangle shape of the card, accented it with my fav white pen to give it a little pop!  The 'jersey', is actually a baby onesie from the cartridge Wrap it up!  I just cut off the bottom part of the onesie to make it look like a shirt.  I added stripes to the sleeves to make it look more like a football jersey.  Since it's her 85th b-day, I made the # on the jersey 85.  The football is also from the Wrap it up cartridge.  I really made use out of this football.  More to come on that!  This invite is very simple, but I think gets the theme across well!

M-I-C-K-E-Y

I am currently working on birthday invitations, and the theme is none other then the man himself! The only guy that can go around wearing no shirt, short shorts, white gloves, yellow shoes and talks in a high voice and no one questions his masculinity?! hah! Yes! It's Mickey Mouse!!  I went very simple on this one, just a little embossing, a die cut, some punches and embellishments and we've got a party going on! Stay tuned for the rest of the party goodies!

Lucky Charms

Here are a few party favors from my gpa's 85th birthday last year.  He loved Vegas, and loved to play craps.  Since his health wasn't that well, and traveling was a challenge we decided to bring Vegas to him!  We made our own casino, with a crap table, black jack table, Texas hold em tournament, and even B-I-N-G-O!  Yes Bingo!  The party favors were decks of cards and poker chips with his picture on them!  Since the frog is associated with Good Luck, I used the frog to accent the deck of cards.  The poker chip is wrapped up with candy in ti leaves to look like a miniature laulau.  My gpa was a hog farmer in his younger years and later went to work for a company that made Hawaiian food, so all his life people associated him with pigs.  Over the years he's collected various pig knick knack and figurines.  All in all the favors were a great hit, and everyone won the jackpot that night!
Cheers!

Turtles & Frogs Baby Shower

The invites
These pics were from a baby shower that I threw last year, the theme was Turtles and Frogs for a baby girl!
The decor
Here are some decorations, fun and festive balloons!  I'm so mad that I didn't get better pics of the rest of the balloons.
The food
Since it was a co-ed shower, to make things the father to be ordered bentos for everyone, we also had a lot of other yummy delights!
The favors
Here's another version of the box with the lollipop treats inside!  Bright and fun! Makes me smile just looking at the colors!
The table
Some table decor, to add a little something extra!  Turtles, frogs, lily pads, and flowers.
The goodies
Here are more treats that were on a different table.  Pink & Purple M&M's in mini champagne bottles, more lollipops and sleeves filled with peach frog gummi candy!(oomph featured these yummy treats, and actually inspired this post)
The gifts
Lots of gifts for the new parents!! Yes that is Christmas wrap! haha! You know guys...I guess we can't ask for much, at least it's wrapped right?!
The games
Once again, leave it to guys to do something inappropriate with an innocent baby shower game!

All in all the party was a success, minus the fact that the mom to be, missed half of the shower because she went in to labor!  Yes! She had the baby that evening, one month early.  Even better, it was on Father's day!  Best gift a father could get!! Now almost one year later, her 1st birthday is on the horizon!
Cheers!

90th Birthday

This is a little something that I came up with for my uncle's 90th birthday celebration!  He is a special man, and he deserves a great birthday!  He's a huge sports fan, especially baseball!  This is a play off of the University of Hawaii's logo.  The inside includes his picture, the party and RSVP info.  I made this with my eclips, using the SCAL program.  The picture doesn't show the detail of the paper behind the H, but the design looks like hardwood floor.  When looking at it on a smaller scale, it looks like a woven basket.  Can't wait for this party!

Easter Birthday Party

This was an invitation that I made for one of my lovlies daughter's birthday party!  The theme was Hello Kitty and the party was around Easter, so I felt that this was fitting!  This inspired me to create tags like this for my shop.  I am thinking of other things that I can do with her!  Lots of Easter ideas coming soon!!

Bridal Shower Invitations

This is a bridal shower invitation that I made for one of my lovelies bridal shower.  Her theme colors were Navy Blue and Hot Pink, so this is what I came up with.  I need to come up with a surprise 90th birthday invitation, so I am thinking of using this same format for that.  It's simple, but yet still looks inviting and celebratory.
