Same but Different

Here are a few things recently listed in my shop!  Hello Kitty key chains, lanyards, wristlets with a whistle.  I recently made some of these for a fundraiser and they were a big hit! People are even requesting them for graduation gifts.  She is my old standby, I only met a few people that openly admit that they hate Hello Kitty! Wha!? Are they high or something?  She's the best simple design out there! This is going to upset you cat lovers out there, I apologize in advance!  People that know me well, know that I am not a fan of cats, from a young age I never liked cats.  I've had bad experiences with them and always have bad dreams about them.  Also superstitiously speaking I am a firm believer that when an all black cat crosses your path something bad is going to happen, and believe me it's happened to me more than a couple times!  I often get asked this question.."how come you love Hello Kitty so much, but you don't like cats?" Me: shes not a real cat! it is different! This could cause a debate I'm sure, but for me it's not the same thing.

Warm the Bench

Pink stool with Hello Kitty decals cut from vinyl.  This was a gift for my little cousin that loves Hello Kitty!  I added her name with the Hello Kitty face, on one side I added a butterfly and on the other I added a flower.  I used the Hello Kitty cricut cartridge to cut the decals.  This was probably the easiest and fastest gift I've ever made!

Pocket Face

Here is a quick little card that I made trying to use up my scraps, using my old standby, the scalloped pocket!  I can't help but to use this over and over again! I just noticed that I forgot her whiskers!! eek! Oh well she's still a cutie!!

All about MOM

This weeks challenge is all about mom!  I decided to go a little simple this week.  I embossed the paper with a flower design. and made these flower rosettes with ribbons.  I chose not to add any sentiments, because I didn't want it to take away from the pattern on the paper.  All in all I think that it came out lovely!  Check out the rest of the teams projects or if you want to participate, please join us!!

Fish N Pinwheels

Early morning, long drive, starting off with some Passion Orange Guava juice in a cup that lost it's cover, so I improvised with some press and seal! It's great, we use it for the kids drinks all the time so they don't spill.  Stuck a little pinwheel straw in it for a little festive flare! Off to the baby shower! About an hour drive away!

Favors that I made for the baby BOY shower!  They're supposed to be fish for boys day, but I heard things like whale, shark and even dinosaur?!

Made with the cake box, very simple just turn it on it's side, add an eyeball, a smile, and some gills.  I made the fins out of triangles that I cut from a larger circle.  One circle made 4 fins!

Boys day koi soaring! It looked awesome in person!!

Famous China Man's Hat

This picture shows the size of the kites better, they were huge!

Kualoa Beach park

These are pictures from the baby shower that I went to on Saturday! It was a great day! It was about an hour drive away, but it was great! I had a great view the whole way and sometimes it's nice to take a long drive!  A change of pace is always good!  I discovered a lot of new things on my journey there and can't wait to go back and explore when I have more time!  It really was an adventure!

5th day in May

Here's a little card that I made for my friend that will be celebrating her birthday tomorrow!  May 5! Cinco De Mayo, or in Hawaii Boy's day which was converted to Children's day? I have no idea why?  My friend now lives in Arkansas and I wanted to send her a little birthday love, so I made her this card.  It's a simple card, but it feels so festive! hah!  I have a baby boy surprise shower in the morning, that I made some fishy favors for(since it's BOYS day and it's a boy)  Then I am planning on watching the Mayweather vs. Cotto fight and maybe a little tequila and Mexican beer?! Gotta stay festive! Love boxing!  Then Sunday it's off to a luncheon for another baby shower! At some point this weekend I need to make and submit my entry for next week's Tuesday Alchemy challenge! Eek!  What are your plans for the weekend? Cinco De Mayo? Boy's Day? Children's Day? Or just plain May 5th?

May Day is Lei Day

In Hawaii, May Day is a little from the states.  It's celebrated with flowers, but in a different way.  We string them up in a lei and wear them around our necks.  You can also give them to someone as a gift.  Here's more info on how it's celebrated in Hawaii
This was my entry for this weeks Tuesday Alchemy challenge!  I've been making this for 15 plus years now, for all different occasions.  Even 400 for a party once.  I make it for graduations, and am starting to make some for a family reunion coming up.  Each family will be sorted by color, so that is the color lei they will receive.  This is very easy to make and very economically friendly on your wallet as well! :)  It's made with craft foam, beads and ribbons.  It takes about 40 or so flowers to make a decent length lei.  If you want to get creative and put more than 1 flower you can do that as well.  I've done some with 1 big in the middle and 2 smalls on the outside.  It looks awesome, but does take a lot more time and materials.  String everything  to your liking and tie it up.  Add a tag with a special sentiment and you're done!  It's fun and the brightness makes you feel happy!  I'm glad that I was able to use this for this weeks challenge!
